Matthew Williamson, Genious?

In 1997, a new designer, Matthew Williamson emerged on the catwalk -with models Kate Moss, Helena Christensen, and Jade Jagger fitted in his ensembles- fashionistas, editors, and style gurus began to chatter. His debut designs were a hit, unfortunately since 1997 Williamson has been target of much debate on whether or not his work is genius or amateur.
If it were up to me, I'd list him to be pure genius!! His 10 year anniversary collection, Fall 2007, evokes shear bliss and innovation with an uplifting color palate and polished design. "Known for his evocative sense of color and print, the designer consistently creates modern, feminine, and uplifting fashion. With countless accolades from the finest in the industry and a laundry list of celebrity fans, Matthew Williamson creations are must-haves for every fashionista."
His Fall 2007 line is completely inspired by his 48 hour trip to Tokyo. Aiming for polished and refined, Williamson struck a cord with his interpretation of just that. What's cultured about metallic brocades, flirty frocks, jewel tone satins, encrusted crystals, and vintage furs? Not much...Nonetheless his designs stand out as a courageous and innovative statement. A little advice, however, do not follow the runway look completely - As Coco Chanel would say "When accessorizing, always take off the last thing you put on"

Lovely Dressings

The Right Dress…the Right Occasion

Shoppers all over are taking notice of the array of fabulous dresses on the racks of many boutiques and department stores, wondering where they could pull off such an assemble, while getting the most bang for their buck. Retailers and designers can’t blame them- hey you spend hundreds on dresses so you want to get wear out of them. So here are some looks that can take you from casual to fab; dress down with opaque tights and knit sweater with minimal accessories or dress up less the tights instead opt for killer high heels

Brian Reyes Ruffle Wrap Dress

Derek Lam Camisole Bra Dress

Derek Lam Gold Lame Patchwork Dress

Rebecca Taylor Beaded Tunic Dress

Foley + Corinna Stretch Cowl Neck Tunic

Getting back to those dresses mentioned before, you know the ones you spent outrageous amounts on and wore once. Be reasonable…your not going to be able to wear the full length, intricately beaded dresses more than once!! But you can visit your tailor and get that dress – which is taking valuable closest space – and get it hemmed to the knee or make it a mini. Voila, you’ve just restored a once useless garment!!

Le Modèle d'une Artiste Française

The art deco look is big right now and what's more is the French artisans look..think berets, shift dresses, and boots/or opaque tights. Many celebrity adaptations of the new trend can be seen on most all red carpets and events. Don't fret, however, the look is definitely a simple look to pull off and many girls are doing just that- on the streets, in the malls, at the clubs- and doing it well! Love the look, especially the hats (which i just bought two berets this week!!) so do not be afraid to experiment a little with an innovative, artist-inspired trend straight from Paris!! Fabuleux!!

*Hilary Duff in particular has been digging this look

Clutch On For Dear Life!!

That's right clutch this new fall trend in the palm of your hand, even though the bag will be substantially larger...
The new perception of the clutch, is bigger is always better. Hey, it doesn't hurt that it is definitely more convenient as well!! This handbag accessory has taken the American craze of super-sizing and redirected the fashion into a beautiful, bold statement that can be easily transferred from day to night!

Before the ultra large clutch, was the super tiny one which made fitting more than your spare key and lipgloss harder than finding parking on a Friday night in NYC. Now you can hold more so that it can be a wonderful companion during the daytime too. Fabulous!!

When Saying Hello...

Top Your Hat...

Because this fall your look is incomplete without an old Hollywood hat!

Ranging in colors, sizes, and textures hats same back with a vengeance this fall, after repeated refusal from designers to fashion such an accessory on their runway!!

Whether it be a beaver felt hat from Proenza Schouler, a swarovski trimmed velour-fur hat from Makins, or one of the several outspoken styles in Marc Jacobs collection!! Heck try them all, honestly no wrong can be done. Now a bad hair day can be played up to be a real statement, a true fashionista camouflaging a lapse in volume!! Love It <3

accessorize! accessorize! accessorize !

The first stream of hott accessories to surface is this season's outlook on the glove. Yes think Breakfast at Tiffany's chic!! Designers have brought back the sophisticated elegance of the 50s with an added spunk and eccentricity.

Although gloves are the must-have look this season, make sure you wear it right...
So wear them super short, like a motorcycle/rock star style leather glove number or a super long look to enhance the ultra chic tailored trend this fall!!! Just exude the confidence it entails to wear such an accessory with the utmost femininity and you'll be ready to make anyone pop a hemline!

HINT: A pair of long black leather gloves donned a short sleeved red coat!! AMAZING

Grey, or is it gray?

Confusion over the spelling has long plagued me, however confusion and doubt is nonexistent in the colors big emergence into the Fall fashion wardrobe. Grey is the "It" Color this season, making dramatic effects in most designer's fall lines.

Why the color choice? Grey is a misunderstood and often under-appreciated color amongst the crayola box. The shade of choice for designers this fall has revealed itself to the fashion world as the restrained, yet chic and edgy persona it is now being acclaimed! The muted color allows for brilliance to exude through interpretative and eclectic new cuts, designs, and overall dramatics.

*Pair with bright yellows, cobalt blues, and dramatic accessories (leather gloves, anyone?)

Clothes Speak Volumes...

But do not get caught in a fashion disaster as you forge your voice through your choices in apparel. Appearing to voluminous this fall could have such catastrophic effects.

Fall trends revive the tailored look, a more fitted and flattering silhouette, this season. So hang up your bubble dresses and babydoll tops and revert them back into the closet!

New Inseams, Modern Sketches, Richer Fabrics, Deeper Colors, Fresh Cuts, and Overall beautiful Visuals create the Fall Look this Season. The masculine direction the trend nears with white shirts, blouse ties, wide-leg pants, and blazers/ vests is done impeccably (by some designers) to maintain the utmost femininity!

*Note: if however one, such as myself, is enamoured by the bubble dress and would like to still wear looser pieces it must be done right. Balance the volume with structured pieces, i.e. a fitted, leather jacket!!
